Model Composition

A composition modeled entirely from Bach's Gigue Fugue and Messiaen's Turangalîla-Symphonie.

This is basically Messiaen's Turangalîla but instead using the motif from Bach's Gigue Fugue in G major. In hindsight "Model Composition" is confusing. If I think of a better name, I'll change it.

A lot of the fast moving harmonies are stolen from Messiaen. I was obsessed with Turangalîla at the time and wanted an excuse to use that language. Although I realized in hindsight that of the few staple chords that Messiaen uses to harmonize the melody I missed one. Oh well.

This was read by the University Philharmonic. I'd be surprised if over 10 minutes was spent on the piece. There were tons of people gone that day too as I recall as it was pretty much the last session for the orchestra that semester.
